Our Story

Welcome to Henny Pen Acres, a small flower farm rooted in hope, healing, and the simple beauty of nature. What began during a difficult chapter in life has grown into a place where flowers are shared to lift spirits and brighten lives.

How It All Began

The story of Henny Pen Acres began in 2010, when my husband Clark was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. During treatments at the cancer center, we noticed a beautiful bouquet of flowers that included dahlias, a flower we were not familiar with at the time. In the midst of such a difficult season, those blooms became a small but powerful symbol of hope.

Not long after, I came across an ad from Hamilton Dahlia Farm in Hamilton, Michigan, where the owner was retiring and selling her tubers. The farm was owned by Janet Koop-Brondyke, who continued the legacy of her father, Harvey Koop. We purchased some of those tubers and began planting dahlias together.

Clark passed away a little over a year after his diagnosis, but the flowers continued to bloom. Over time, the meaning behind those dahlias only grew stronger.

A New Chapter

For many years the dahlias remained a quiet part of my life under the name Dahlias of DeWitt. Later, after moving to Gregory, Michigan, during COVID, I met Adam — a wonderful and unexpected partner who believed in the dream of growing flowers. His encouragement, support, and countless hours of hard work helped turn that small passion into something much bigger.

Together we expanded the dahlias and created Henny Pen Acres, a flower farm dedicated to sharing beauty and hope with others.

Our Philosophy

At Henny Pen Acres, we believe something simple:

The Farm Today

Today, Henny Pen Acres grows a wide variety of dahlias, seasonal flowers, and other farm products. We also host u-pick flower days and farm events, giving visitors the chance to walk through fields of blooms and create their own bouquets.

Our goal is simple: to create a place where people can enjoy flowers, spend time outdoors, and reconnect with the beauty of nature.

Our Mission

Henny Pen Acres exists in memory of Clark and in honor of all those who have faced hardship in life.
